Our Story
Voices for Woodbury is a community-driven project made possible through Partners for Climate Action’s Funding Futures: Together We Decide grant program. Funded in part by PCA, this initiative empowers towns across the Hudson Valley to connect residents, build shared priorities, and identify sustainable ways to protect their natural environment.
Through this program, Woodbury was selected as one of four Hudson Valley communities to receive training and grant support to strengthen local collaboration around environmental priorities. The goal is simple yet powerful: bring people together to listen, learn, and decide what matters most for Woodbury’s future—its open spaces, clean water, forests, and community well-being.
The project is led by LisaMarie Hintze, a long-time Woodbury resident and environmental advocate. After touring North America with Cirque du Soleil, LisaMarie settled in Woodbury over 30 years ago, where she raised her daughter and became deeply involved in local sustainability work. As Chairperson for Woodbury’s Climate Smart Task Force, she has guided both the Town and Village to achieve NYSERDA 2-Star Certified Clean Energy Community and Bronze Climate Smart Community designations. Her dedication to environmental leadership and civic service has earned her the Chris Eachus Extraordinary Women’s Award and the NYS Planning Board Levine Community Service Award.
Through Voices for Woodbury, LisaMarie and community volunteers aim to continue this progress by listening to residents, collecting stories and ideas, and identifying shared goals for Woodbury’s environment and quality of life. Every voice matters. Together, we can build a more connected, resilient, and sustainable Woodbury.
